Kathy Pratte – Dental Assistant
Kathy has worked in dentistry for 26 years. She worked as a dental assistant as her co-op during her degree and returned to it several years later when she realised it was her real calling.
It’s making the connections with the practice’s patients that motivates and inspires Kathy, especially when she helps nervous clients face and beat their fears. Working as part of the practice team – or family, as she sees it – is also a huge part of her professional life.
Kathy’s most unusual job was in high school, cleaning out the waste from boats moored in the marina near her childhood home! This experience didn’t put her off from boating, however, as she still loves to paddle board and sail, as well as play indoor soccer with her daughter.
Three things I’m thankful for
My beautiful children, my amazing support system and driving with the top down!
Four words to describe me
Sassy, loyal, free-spirited, kind-hearted (slight cheat there…)
What do you love about your profession?
I can be independent in my accomplishments while still working towards a common goal with the team and the patient. I’m also able to try new things easily and if I pick them up well, it’s a bonus.
When you’re not working, what makes you happiest?
Spending one-on-one time with my children.
Ride the wave, live the dream.
