Marie has been working aside dental professionals for the past 36 years. Before joining the practice, she spent a summer as a dental assistant while studying at dental school. She also worked in real estate sales before going to dental school. What motivates Marie is treating dental diseases, but, more important to her is preventing it. She likes to emphasize and educate patients on the connection between dental health and general health and wellbeing. Marie also likes to find out more about the causes behind diseases. Her proudest moments come when she sees the children and grandchildren of her first patients come in for appointments. She loves having the opportunity to meet so many people, hearing their stories and helping them stay healthy. In her leisure time she loves spending time with her family, cooking, reading, walking and biking. Three things she is grateful for are her family - three daughters and her husband, her group of girlfriends and good health. She would describe herself as: Patient, positive, hospitable and compassionate.
Sandy has worked in dentistry for almost 50 years now, 29 of which have been at our practice. In the past, she’s worked as a dental assistant and also on front desk. Her motivation in her job is to learn new skills and make new accomplishments. In her profession, she loves the relationships and connections she has with her patients and their families. Personally, her goals are to spend more time with her granddaughters, to learn to play the piano and learn Spanish, as well as to travel through the US’ national parks. When she’s not working she enjoys exercising, reading, cooking and traveling. Three things she is thankful for are: good health, family and friends, job, and a comfortable way of life. She would describe herself as helpful, kind, organized and friendly.
Jennifer has worked for our doctors here at Whole Dental Wellness for 19 years and before becoming a hygienist she worked as a dental assistant and also on the front desk. Her first ever job was at a Kmart, but she’s spent almost all of her working life in dentistry. What motivates Jennifer is seeing how people’s smiles are improved after a cleaning and she also enjoys teaching them how to care for their teeth and gums to prevent problems in the future. She loves teaching patients about dental hygiene in a way they can relate to. When she’s not working she loves being in the outdoors and also spending time with her family, husband, and two amazing children.Three things she is grateful for are family, health and my wonderful job and co-workers. She would describe herself as: Silly, wears her heart on her sleeve, compassionate.
Brandie has worked in the dental field for eight years and with Drs Papa and Haskins for two years. She’s also worked as a hygienist recall and before that at a car wash for three years, which she loved. Brandie’s motivation comes from being at the preventative end of dentistry – keeping people’s teeth clean and educating them so they can avoid problems in the future. She loves working with people every day. In her leisure time she loves to spend time with her kids and playing board games. She also loves singing. Three things she is thankful for are her family, her friends and her life. She would describe herself as: Quirky, loud, funny and loving.
Nicolle has worked in dentistry for 18 years. Before entering dentistry, her first job was serving ice cream at a branch of Baskin-Robbins. What motivates Nicolle is being able to help people. She’s always enjoyed science and so her job also gives her lots of learning opportunities. Her proudest moments at work come when she sees young children feeling excited about coming to see the dentist. She loves that her profession is always changing and that she can teach people something new about their health. When she’s not at work she enjoys spending time outdoors with her kids, especially in the summer. She also loves gardening and reading. Three things she is thankful for are her health, her family and her happiness. She would describe herself as: Dependable, down-to-earth, patient, and friendly.
Lisa has an extensive resume in the dental field, having spent 27 years working in it and 23 of those in the area of hygiene. She has been a real asset to the practice since she started at Whole Dental Wellness in September 2019. She loves meeting and getting to know all her patients, as well as extending her skills to help people with their teeth and live better, healthier lives. Her passions include her 2 girls she loves very much and also hockey!
Erica started her career in the dental field about 1 ½ years ago and has been with us at Whole Dental Wellness for 6 months. Some of her fondest memories in this field include going on the dental mission trip to Guyana, South America where she worked alongside other dental professionals and provided dental care to over 550 patients. Those patients hold a special place in her heart. When she isn’t working she likes going to the gym or staying active with a run. She loves playing with her dog, Tommy, and spending time with family and friends. She’s also a huge hockey fan (Go Wings!)
Sandy has worked in dentistry for 25 years. She started out as a co-op and then worked as a dental assistant for a while. Her most unusual job before dentistry was serving beer tubs at her friend’s bar. What motivates Sandy is being challenged; from learning a new IT system and all about new dental procedures to dealing with all the different insurance companies. She especially enjoys liaising with the insurance companies and making sure patients get the help they need. Sandy’s proudest moments at work come when patients express their gratitude and she knows she’s made a difference. Communicating with and helping patients and also challenging insurance companies are things she enjoys about her job. When she’s not at work she enjoys heavy bag boxing and working out, being with her family, volunteering for the cancer charity Relay for Life, going to concerts and being a sports mom. Three things she is thankful for is all the love in her life, family vacations, and belly laughs. She would describe herself as: Loving, loyal, trustworthy, and dependable.
Sara is new to dentistry, but loves the work she does. Before coming into the dental field, she worked in a restaurant and also in a jeweler shop. What motivates Sara is learning as much as she can about her new profession. It’s very different to her previous jobs and she’s very excited about progressing and acquiring new skills. Her proudest moments at work come when she sees patients smiling as they leave the office. She loves that coming from no experience in this field, it’s awesome to be able to learn new skills every day. In her free time she loves reading, going to concerts and musicals, kayaking, watching movies and being outside with a glass of wine. Three things she is thankful for are her health, the people in her life and her parents (who made her who she is). She would describe herself as: trusting, caring, fun, and energetic.
Devon has been working at our practice for 12 years. She started working there as part of her co-op, then moved onto becoming a dental assistant. Before starting out in dentistry, Devon worked as a cashier in a fruit market. What motivates Devon is learning as much as she can about her job, including new IT systems and collaborating with her colleagues. She also loves to provide for her family – her partner Steve and six-year-old daughter McKenzie. Her proudest career moments have been working up from her co-op to become a dental assistant, including making impressions, then being offered the chance to become a receptionist. She loves communicating with patients and building relationships with them, as well as learning on the job every day. In her leisure time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and family, going up north and shopping. Three things she is thankful for are her daughter, her partner, and her amazing family and friends. She would describe herself as fun, reliable, energetic and loving.
Steve is very happy and proud to be part of the Whole Dental Wellness team. Being a practice that focuses not only on the health of the entire oral cavity, but also fostering quality relationships with all our patients, makes Steve proudest. He has been working in the dental space for 6 years - and when you ask him about what he loves about his job, well, he loves it all! He feels the best part is the genuine relationships he is able to develop with the wonderful patients at Whole Dental Wellness. He loves to ensure they feel comfortable, and to educate them to fully understand the importance of following recommended treatments - so patients achieve the full benefits of their dental care. He is all about quality and will do everything he can to enhance your experience at Whole Dental Wellness. Having dealt with patients that have had severe dental anxiety, Steve has experience helping get you through those moments, so you can receive the dental care you need. One of this favorite moments was doing just that, and a patient afterwards thanking him emphatically for putting her at ease. When he isn’t helping patients through their dental services, Steve enjoys sports like football and basketball and especially Detroit professional sports. He also enjoys traveling, music, discovering new local watering holes, and warm, sunny weather.
Sahar is a seasoned dental professional with 12 years of experience under her belt. She joined the team at Whole Dental Wellness 8 months ago and loves the Whole Dental Wellness family. Some of the things she really enjoys about her job is helping in oral surgery, cosmetic cases and also educating patients. She loves to be able to show her skills and help patients with their treatments in a delicate manner. She considers herself a fast pace, efficient dental assistant. When not acting as a dental assistant, she’s got a panoply of other skills she uses, from speaking 4 languages, to eyebrow threading, cooking and working out, and doing this in addition to spending time with family.
Tabitha has worked in dentistry for 15 years. Before entering dentistry, Tabitha waitressed in several different restaurants. What motivates her is the fact that she can make a huge change in patients’ lives simply by improving their smiles. Tabitha is also excited about her career development and she loves to strengthen the relationships with her colleagues, as well as to learn from others so she becomes more open-minded. Her proudest career moment was when a patient described the practice as working in perfect harmony, like a well-oiled machine. She loves to help her patients feel at ease and complete their goals of healthy oral hygiene and a great smile. She also loves developing relationships and really getting to know her patients. When she’s not working she loves spending time with her one-year-old son, taking him to the park and to the splashpad. She also enjoys craft beers, kayaking, fowling, concerts, movies and Netflix, as well as walking with her dogs. Some things she is thankful for are her son, husband, dogs and her home. She would describe herself as: Strong, fun, trustworthy and caring.
She has both a general and surgical assisting background, along with previous experience in I.V. Sedation. She loves spending time with her patients. Every day is a new experience. And she especially loves the surgical aspect of what she does, right in the office at Whole Dental! In her leisure time she enjoys getting together with her large and loud Irish/Italian family where they watch stand-up comedy and laugh for hours together. Three things she is thankful for are her health, her awesome family and her job - she loves the work atmosphere, her supportive co-workers and supportive boss. She would describe herself as: Compassionate, dependable, funny and loud.
